Position: Gameplay Engineer (contract)
Technologies: JavaScript, QICI Game Engine
Status: Built for and deployed by Stanford University (game website here).
The Story:
While working on both a Google grant funded, and ACT funded variants of Crisis in Space 2, I was requested to take over development of Teachable Agents from the original development team, and deliver extra tasks that Stanford had requested to round out the game. Teachable Agents was a single-player game where the player would progress from planet to planet by completing knowledge graphs to answer questions about short lessons on environments, among other space-related subjects.
I interfaced with the out-going team of two developers and learned the code-base, and then communicated with Stanford to deliver those extra milestones while learning and using the JavaScript-based QICI engine, which was new to me.
