Timeframe: circa 2010 – 2011
Position: Developer
Technologies: AS3, Adobe AIR
Status: No longer active. Initially released on the GarageGames store.
The Story:
Another tool I had released was created for in-house use while developing Epic Frontiers. The Magnitude Editor was used to shortcut some of the item generation needs we’d had to populate the database with many items in a way that made it less tedious. You could specify a range of values, load a list, or give a static value, and when generating, the Magnitude Editor would create every permutation for the combination of values.
Obviously, you had to be a bit careful with how many combinations you generated, as it could take a while. The GUI would have a field that told the user how many permutations were expected to be generated, in case the user accidentally asked for a billion items! You could export to TXT or CSV, the latter of while was great for importing into databases.
The tool was made using AS3 and Adobe AIR for cross-platform functionality, and sold on the GarageGames store.
